Frequently asked questions

Quick answers for the most common setup, automation, connectivity, privacy, and update questions.

What is Availight Duo?

Availight Duo is a two-device availability system: a desk-side Controller for the person in the room and a Door Unit that shows visitors whether now is a good time to interrupt.

Does Availight work without internet?

Yes. Core local status control, Controller-to-Door communication, setup access, and manual status changes are designed to work locally. Internet is only required for optional cloud features, account services, and connected calendars.

What does Smart Display do?

Smart Display can use schedules, calendar signals, phone-call state, and cloud connectors to update the visible status automatically while keeping manual override available from the Controller.

Can I still change my status manually?

Yes. Manual control remains central to the product. A tap on the Controller can switch availability even when automation is enabled.

Which calendars can Availight use?

Availight is being designed around Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams presence, Microsoft calendar signals, iCalendar feeds, and shared calendar feeds. Availability depends on account permissions and connector setup.

Does the Door Unit show my meeting details?

No. The Door Unit is meant to show a simple availability message. Private calendar details stay in the cloud/service layer and are reduced to status intent before reaching the display.

How do I set up the devices for the first time?

Start with the Controller and Door Unit nearby, pair them, then use the mobile app or Controller setup portal to set room name, Wi-Fi, labels, schedules, and optional cloud connectors.

Why does the Controller show a setup code?

The setup code confirms that the person signing in or changing local settings is physically near the Controller. It helps protect local access and device claiming.

Can multiple people manage the same Availight system?

The product direction supports account-based ownership and shared management. For beta, device claiming and ownership transfer should stay deliberate and local-presence based.

What happens if Wi-Fi goes down?

Manual status control and the local Controller-to-Door link should continue. Cloud sync and online connectors may pause until the Controller reaches the internet again.

How are firmware updates installed?

Availight uses signed update packages so Controller firmware, portal assets, and Door Unit firmware can be delivered together through the setup portal when a release is approved.

Can I customize the status names?

Yes. Available, Busy, Focus, and In a Call can use custom titles and subtitles, and Focus supports a custom background color.

What is the countdown availability timer?

When enabled, the Door Unit can show how long remains until the next available window, based on schedules and connected provider events.

Does Availight make sounds?

The Controller can use tones for link and status feedback, and these can be controlled by settings such as quiet hours and link status tones.

Can I use Availight in a clinic, studio, or shared workspace?

Yes. Availight is intended for home offices, studios, consultation rooms, team rooms, and other places where people need better timing before interrupting.

What should I do if the Door Unit says Offline?

Check power first, then confirm the Controller is on and nearby. If the issue persists, restart both devices and review diagnostics from the setup portal.

What if the status does not match my calendar?

Confirm Smart Display is enabled, the correct calendar is selected, and the connector shows healthy status. For iCalendar feeds, updates can take longer than push-style connectors.

Can I factory reset Availight?

Yes. The Controller includes reset options, and support guidance should be followed before transferring ownership or reclaiming a device.

Where can I download the mobile app?

The Downloads page will publish official App Store and Google Play paths as soon as those app listings are ready for beta or production users.
